Júlia Gállego

Júlia Gállego was born in Altea, Spain, and is highly recognized as a solo flutist in, among others, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Júlia Gállego was educated at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with flute teachers Alain Marion, Raymond Guiot, Sophie Cherrier, and Vincent Lucas, and chamber music teachers Maurice Bourgue and Pierre Laurent Aimard.
In 2001 she was awarded first prize and audience prize at the ARD competition in Munich with the Miró Ensemble and won first prize in the Montserrat Alavedra chamber music competition with the Haizea wind quintet in 1994.

As a chamber musician, Júlia regularly works with musicians such as Gordan Nikolic, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Reto Bieri, Meesun Hong Coleman, Thomas Kaufmann, Joonas Ahonen, David Quiggle, Alba Ventura.

She has also performed with ensembles such as RCO Amsterdam (Prinsengracht Concert 2019 with Pekka Kuusisto), ]W[ Ensemble and Ensemble 0.

Júlia has been a member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra since 2005, and is also co-founder and solo flutist in bandArt with violinist Gordan Nikolic. Júlia also collaborates regularly with Camerata Bern.

Since 2006, she has taught at the Academy of Music “E.S.M.U.C.” and the “Conservatori Superior de Música del LICEU”, both in Barcelona.
